Review Policy

Dancrossbookblog is currently accepting books for review. I use a kindle to read my books so mobi format is great for me – if you only have epub format, that’s fine, I can convert it myself. Every once in a while it would be nice to be given a hard copy so if you have a paperback lying around that you need reviewing, just send it my way 🙂

I am always happy to hear from publishers and authors about books and I will always TRY to have the review completed within an agreed time, after all, this is my project, not my full-time job. If, for any reason, I am unable to complete the review within the time scale, I will inform said Author/Publisher.

I am on Goodreads, Facebook, and Twitter.

I have a ‘recommendation’ section at the end of my review and this will usually highlight if i feel that the boo may not be suitable for a particular audience, for example, if there is swearing or sex scenes then I will indicate this. This does not mean I dislike the book or disagree with it, it is there only as an advisory note.

What I Read

I read mainly fantasy, YA and crime thrillers as I have a more in-depth knowledge of the field. I do not read non-fiction or romance/erotica. My preferences Include;

  • Urban Fantasy
  • YA
  • High fantasy
  • Epic fantasy
  • Grimdark (the more the better)
  • Crime fiction
  • Thriller
  • Horror
  • Post-apocalyptic

If you feel that your book does not fit into any of these categories or only has certain elements of them then please get in touch and I will be more than happy to have a discussion around this.

I will always state how I have received the book, for example, a sentence such as; ‘I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review’ will be added to the beginning of the review.

My reviews are always honest and will detail elements that I liked as well as those I didn’t. However, I firmly believe that EVERY book as a potential audience and I will always be positive in my review and will recommend the book to a particular audience.

My rating system is out of 5 and I will use whatever denomination within that scale, for example, a book I recently reviewed received (alliterate much?!) 4.99999/5 – I do like to be precise. 5/5 is top marks and a wonderful book, 1/5 is a book that I did not enjoy.

I share my reviews across my social media channels as well as my blog.

Thanks for reading 🙂
